  • Why do I need a colonoscopy?

Colon cancer is the second most deadly cancer because it often goes undetected until it is too late. A colonoscopy is the most effective way to find colon cancer early, and when found early, it is the most curable form of cancer. Don't wait! If you are 50 years of age or older, you should have regular colonoscopy screenings.

How long does the procedure last?

Typically a colonoscopy will take about 20 minutes.

    Is a colonoscopy painful?

We have anesthesiologists who make sure that patients are completely comfortable during the procedure.

Do I need someone with me following the procedure?

You will need to have someone drive you home after the procedure.  This is because of the anesthesia utilized during the procedure.

When do I receive my results?

You will have a brief consultation with the physician after the procedure.  You will likely make a follow up appointment if needed.  The physician’s office will contact you with results when they are completed.
